Get Ready's College Corps, currently in its seventh year, is a team of college students who work as tutors in Get Ready's after-school programs. It is unique because it provides learning opportunities to both the tutors and the Get Ready students. College Corps members serve as tutors, mentors, and higher education role models to Get Ready students, while at the same time gaining meaningful work experience that is relevant to their educational career goals.
The College Corps is a paid opportunity; members are employed through their university's work-study program Currently we partner with the University of Minnesota, University of St. Thomas, and Hamline University. However, we are working to add more colleges and universities to this list.
College Corps members work two or more afternoons per week at an assigned school, working with students in small groups or one-on-one. Some days include homework help sessions, while some include leading a group activity. College Corps members are provided with an orientation session as well as training sessions throughout the school year. Learn about College Corp requirements.
