A Minnesota funded financial aid program for eligible veterans and their families
The Minnesota GI Bill Program, established in Fiscal Year 2008 provides postsecondary financial assistance to eligible Minnesota veterans and service members who have served on or after September 11, 2001 and to the children and spouses of deceased or severely disabled eligible Minnesota veterans and service members who have served on or after September 11, 2001. The Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs has contracted the Minnesota Office of Higher Education to administer the program. See Minnesota statute governing program.

**According to MN Statutes 197.791 Subdivision 6, the available appropriation is equal to the amount necessary to provide benefits to all eligible students.
***Beginning in the 2013-2014 award year, eligibility requirements for the program were greatly expanded, which resulted in a significant increase in the number of awardees and total dollars spent.
