St. Paul, MN -- Commissioner Larry Pogemiller, Minnesota Office of Higher Education, today released this statement on the closing of ITT Technical Institutes:

"The Office of Higher Education was informed today of the immediate closing of ITT Institute, in large part due to the loss of federal funding for financial aid. Fall 2015 enrollment data indicates 263 Minnesota residents were enrolled at the two Minnesota ITT campuses; current enrollment data is not yet available.

"We are working to determine the impact this closure will have on current students, and what steps our office can take to minimize their losses. We will move quickly to identify institutions that can serve as teach-out partners, which will make it easier for students to transfer their credits and complete their program at another school. Federal loan forgiveness may also be an option for ITT students.

"Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Students can also call Betsy Talbot, Manager of Registration and Licensing, at 651-259-3965, if they have any questions."
