Goals

The curriculum for the Summer Institute of Nursing focuses on the art and science of nursing. Students learn about human anatomy and physiology, the nursing process a way of approaching health problems through nursing, nursing research and how that rsearch is applied to practice, and nursing leadership. The students learn through both didactic and skills lab sessions.


Activities

Institute Objectives P At the conclusion of the Gustavus Adolphus College Summer Institute of Nursing, students will: P Explore the nursing profession, including hospital and community-based care, rural health nursing, leadership roles in nursing and working with diverse populations. P Practice hands-on nursing skills with a human patient simulator. P Meet healthcare professionals and learn more about the array of opportunities available in healthcare. P Interact with current Gustavus nursing students and learn about how to apply to a nursing program. P Have opportunity to earn First Aid Certification.
