Goals

Residential Journalism Camp offers high school students who are freshmen, sophomores or juniors in the 2014-15 school year unique learning opportunities in college essay writing, reporting, interviewing, photography and writing on deadline, as well as media tours and guest speakers. Plus, students will have the opportunity for published work in ThreeSixty Magazine and on ThreeSixtyJournalism.org. Students live on the University of St. Thomas St. Paul campus during camp, ensuring a rich college-life experience.


Activities

Students will learn how to write, edit and report like a professional; use photos and words to tell their story; engage with media professionals; build confidence and skills for college; have their work published in the Star Tribune, the St. Paul Pioneer Press and ThreeSixty Magazine; and experience campus life at the University of St. Thomas. Students who complete a ThreeSixty Journalism summer program are eligible to continue in ThreeSixty school-year programming as well as compete for a full-tuition, four-year scholarship at St. Thomas.


Program Dates

July 12 – 23, 2015; Students arrive on campus the evening of Sunday, July 12 and stay on campus until early evening Friday, July 17, are home for the weekend, then return to campus the evening of Sunday, July 19. Camp ends at 9pm Thursday, July 23. Space is limited, and it is a competitive application process. Full scholarships are available for qualified applicants who are accepted into a camp.
