Get Ready Student Success Scholarship

The Get Ready Student Success Scholarship is intended to support our students as they pursue their postsecondary pathway after graduating high school.

The scholarship award will range from $1000 - $2000. Amount awarded is contingent upon the availability of funds, number of applications received and the type of pathway students are pursuing.

Application Process

Interested students should complete the Get Ready Student Success Scholarship Application above. They should also complete the FAFSA® Application | Federal Student Aid.

Expectations for receiving the scholarship:

  • Complete acceptance and enrollment verification form before the start of the academic term.
  • Participate in virtual modules intended to support postsecondary success
  • Be registered for a minimum of 3 credits in the fall and spring semesters at a Minnesota institution, immediately following high school graduation in spring/summer 2025.
  • Reach out to available Get Ready Success Coaches as needed for transitional support and resource navigation.
Who is Eligible?

 

  • Current high school seniors who are graduating from the following Get Ready high schools during the spring/summer of 2025:
    • Camden High School
    • North High School - Minneapolis
    • Red Lake Secondary School
    • Roosevelt High School
    • South High School - Minneapolis
  • Completed the 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Must be a current U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen (i.e. permanent resident, refugee, etc)
  • Confirm enrollment at an accredited Minnesota postsecondary or vocational/training program (i.e. 4-year college, 2-year college, or certificate program) for the 2025-26 academic school year.
  • Recommended +2.0 cumulative GPA (unweighted)

Will the scholarship impact my financial aid award?  

Yes, it may impact your financial aid award. The scholarship award will be sent directly to the college or university and they will disabuse the funds.
The scholarship amount will be awarded up to the cost of attendance.

 

Am I still eligible for the scholarship if I am an undocumented student who will graduate from a MN high school, but have attended less than 3 years of high school in Minnesota?

Due to new federal regulations, undocumented students will NOT be eligible to be considered for the Get Ready Student Success Scholarship.

 

Do I have to be enrolled full time in order to qualify for the scholarship?

No, you must be enrolled in either a certificate, 2-year, or 4-year degree program, however you are eligible as long as you are enrolled in at least 3 credits at the time the scholarship disburses.

 

What qualifies as an accredited certification program?

Certification programs : e.g., a program offered by an eligible school and is:

  • at least 12 quarter/8 semester credits or 300 clock hours; and
  • at least eight weeks long
    • Clock hour: A clock hour is defined as a period of time consisting of
      • a 50 to 60-minute class, lecture, or recitation in 60 minutes;
      • a 50 to 60-minute faculty-supervised laboratory, shop training, or internship in 60 minutes; or
      • 60 minutes of preparation in a correspondence course 

What happens if I have a 2.0 GPA at the time I apply for the scholarship, but it drops below 2.0 afterward?

While a minimum 2.0 GPA is recommended, students who have a GPA below this can still be eligible to receive the Get Ready Scholarship.

 

Is this scholarship renewable?

No, the scholarship is a one-time scholarship that must be used during the fall and spring semester of the designated academic year. The scholarship cannot be rolled over into subsequent terms or academic year if not used designated academic year.

 

What happens if I receive the scholarship but don't enroll in college in the fall of 2025?

If you do not enroll in college in the fall of 2025 you will forfeit the Fall scholarship amount . If you enroll in spring 2026, you will receive spring scholarship award.

 

Can I use this scholarship if I attend a college or university outside of Minnesota?

No, you must be attending a college or university within the state of Minnesota.

 

Am I eligible to apply for this scholarship if I don't attend a Get Ready high school?

No.

 

How are the scholarship award amounts determined?

Scholarship award amounts will range between $1,000 and $2,000. They are determined by the availability of funds, the number of applications received, and the type of pathway a student is pursuing.

 

How many scholarships will be awarded?

We are unable to determine the exact number of recipients until after the scholarship application has closed but we intend to award up to $400,000 in total scholarship aid.

 

What am I required to do after I find out I have been selected as a scholarship winner?

  1. Accept award via link
  2. Enroll in at least 3 credits at a MN college or university in fall 2024
  3. Check with your institution to complete any enrollment and financial aid requirements (i.e. housing selection, class registration, meal plan selection, payment plan registration, etc.)
  4. Reach out to Success Coach as needed for resources and transitional support during your first year in college.

 

When will I find out if I won a scholarship?

You will be notified by late July.
