The goal is to teach and practice the process of reporting and writing a journalistic story or personal essay. Finding and focusing ideas, researching to find and confirm facts, gathering information through interviews and observation, taking photos and writing and revising drafts are all part of the process. Students also visit newsrooms, meet professional journalists and learn about educational and career opportunities in the field. They are encouraged to join the ThreeSixty Journalism staff at the end of camp.
In four weeks, students will learn the basics of telling a good story. Mentors guide them as they practice research, interviewing, writing, photography and video skills in the field. But its not all work and no play! Youll take fieldtrips, tour an actual newsroom, meet your fave news anchors and participate in other fun activities!
