The objective of this music academy is to have the students return home with new skills, new energy, new friends, and a heightened commitment to music. The goal is for students to increase their instrumental competency, develop skills in analysis, evaluation, and synthesis and understand the aesthetics of music, enhance their proficiency level of reading music, experience working in a small chamber group.
Ensemble Track: Band, Orchestra, Choir This performance-based experience will challenge students to stretch your musical abilities as they participate in band, orchestra or choir ensembles and take elective classes. Two 30-minute private lessons are included with tuition, with the option of purchasing two additional lessons.
Students will enroll in two or three classes: conducting basics, learn a new instrument, music career, guitar, theory and aural skills, jazz improv, fresh beats, gamelan, or handbells.
Chamber Track: Band, Orchestra, Choir, Keyboard (Piano/Organ) In addition to the large ensemble participation, two hours a day will be devoted to chamber music, culminating in chamber recitals. Chamber groups are determined by enrollment and a performance example to match levels. Class choice, master classes, and lessons fill out the day.
