Goals

iStrive Hmong Camp's Goals: ? To instill 90% of students and staff with Hmong Pride through by creating a safe place language and culture to thrive by hosting village meetings every morning and afternoon and activities provided in the classroom ? To remove barriers for educational excellence: mental health and equity by providing trainings to staff and lessons through an equity lens ? To prepare students for the upcoming school year by engaging in lessons that are culturally relevant and connecting with student's strengths through Student Centered Learning Approaches


Activities

Description of Day 1. Students will have breakfast and lunch. 2. Students will attend whole group morning gatherings. 3. Students will attend whole class activities to develop their self-awareness of being Hmong, language, literacy and culture in Hmong through the arts, and leadership. 4. Students will see a specialist during their prep.

Camp will be focusing on Hmong identity, language, culture as listed below for specific grade level: PreK & Kindergarten (4 and 5 year olds): All About Me - Develop social emotional skills and confidence Grades 1-6: Hmong Language and Culture: Me in the World Curriculum overview Grades 7-8: Boys and Girls Program with Mental Health & Language & Culture Grades 9-12: CLIMB Leadership and Language & Cultural

Me in the World is a Hmong Language and culture unit that contains seven topics: family, lineage, community, history, food, music, and clothing. Teachers crafted lessons on these seven topics to allow students to unpack who they are as individuals in their current world.
